Synopsis

The focus of this book is aimed towards the fabrication, characterization of water soluble polymers such as hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC), poly (vinyl) alcohol (PVA) and collagen with the presence of silver nanoparticles and their potential application as substrates for skin tissue engineering. Several types of scaffolds based on HEC polymer was utilized in this study via two different fabrication techniques which is electrospinning and freeze-drying method. Green nanoparticle preparation has been performed using natural polymers like chitosan or spider silk. Based on our finding, these scaffolds with optimal properties for wound healing could be adopted for the design of next-generation tissue-engineered skin grafts or wound dressing.
