Is It Okay To Pray In Tongues In Church? Fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus, God began His New Testament Church with an event that has caused controversy ever since. It was on the Day of Pentecost and the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues and magnify God. This one event brought the wisdom of God's Kingdom full circle and has been resisted, scorned, ridiculed, and misunderstood ever since. Due to the controversy, the Church has backed away in fear, using the feeble excuse that it might cause offense. What we must understand is that it was God who did this in public causing His disciples to be accused of being drunk. This accusation has never changed and neither has God. Ever since that day, God has had the gall to do this in front of unbelievers regardless of where they are from. Paul even states that the manifestation is a "sign" for them. We need to stop allowing the unbelievers and uninformed to dictate how the church is to operate and allow God to be in charge. The Day of Pentecost was the day the earthly ministry of Jesus ended and the earthly ministry of the Holy Spirit began. It's the power of God that Satan has no control of and it's the most powerful weapon the Church has against spiritual wickedness in high places. This book is a verse-by-verse argument in defense of First Corinthians chapter 14. The Apostles were willing to stand for it in Jerusalem and so should we to the uttermost parts of the world.
