ISLAM: THE SPIRIT OF CREATIVITY by PROF. DR. JAMAL AHMED BASHIER BADI

This book originated in a series of academic articles that discussed the multi-faceted aspects of creativity in the Islamic worldview. It was deemed beneficial to convert the material into a textbook accessible to students at an undergraduate level. This required a thorough overhaul of the material. The language has been simplified, as has the presentation of the themes and ideas. Stories mentioned are based on real-life events but under different names to preserve people’s privacy. An attempt has been made to link theoretical concepts to everyday student life in order to highlight their relevance and facilitate their application. To that end, students were brought into the process of chapter creation, some of which grew out of class discussions of issues and problems posed to them. Samples of such questions and activities have been provided at the end of each chapter. It is hoped that this textbook will help stimulate and guide the creative faculties of the next generation of Muslim youth.
