There is an increasing interest in parasitology, especially in those areas of the subject which are of immediate economic importance to farm animals, including poultry. In Malaysia especially, knowledge on parasites of scavenging chickens is very much lacking. The author begins his work with lucid descriptions of the various types of scavenging chickens possibly found in Malaysia. Studies on parasites of chickens involve many techniques and procedures, and these have been clearly explained in the book. Recognition of the various parasites encompass detailed examinations and descriptions of the morphology of the parasites themselves. It is not surprising then to see lots of illustrations and photographs, each elucidating important characteristics in the recognition and naming of the respective species. Where possible, bot sexes of a parasite are shown together with their respective body measurements.
